Rimutaka Prison

This upgrade, refurbishment and new-build project at Upper Hutt’s Rimutaka Prison aims to improve safety for inmates and Department of Corrections employees, increase security levels and reduce processing times when moving inmates between prison facilities.
Particularly demanding given requirements for ultra-high security and constant vigilance, the project includes:
- replacing a previously separate facility with a single, integrated and more secure space for new, localised prison health services
- upgrading existing healthcare facilities to ensure they’re fit for purpose.
