Scots College – CPAC
Scots College is a world-class, independent day and boarding school in Strathmore, Wellington. It has been educating boys for nearly 100 years and has recently undergone the most significant building project in its history.
The Creative and Performing Arts Centre and the Covered Sports Centre were two separate projects under one umbrella, both managed by Impact Group.
The Creative and Performing Arts Centre was officially opened on 2 March 2012 and provides educational facilities for drama, graphics, art, music, robotics and much more. The demolition phase of the Creative and Performing Arts Centre project began during the wet June and July school holidays back in 2010.
Impact Group is proud to have managed the impressive new CPAC facility, which was designed by Wellington-based Athfield Architects and built by Field and Hall contractors. Garth Palmer and Barry Conroy have worked on the two projects with Scots College since 2009.
Both Weta Studios and Park Road Post production have provided expert advice on the $14 million, three-level, purpose-built, state-of-the-art CPAC.
The centre houses the Middle School administration and offices, and each classroom and practice area are equipped with cutting-edge technology. It has the latest interactive and sound equipment, including a professional recording studio, computer pods for computer animation, graphics and robotics, seven acoustically designed and soundproofed practice rooms, a designated rehearsal studio and facilities for film and animation production as well as 3D printing.
The centre provides an environment in which Scots’ boys can learn, explore and realise their creative potential. The centre completes the comprehensive offering of an enviable teaching experience and education across all areas of the College.
